Information & Times

At the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage, we have created different program options in response to requests for flexible scheduling, and we believe we have the most flexible scheduling options in the State. Many people prefer to complete their study as quickly as possible; therefore we have created a six-month accelerated full-time program. Others prefer a part-time option because they need to work while they study, have the responsibility of children, or simply want to take more time to learn massage therapy. For this student, we offer the option of a morning/afternoon program, or an evening program. In all programs, clinic practice hours are additional and some Saturday work is required. All programs are 1,000 hours, and students who successfully complete the program are eligible to sit for the National Exam and the New York State licensing exam.

Curriculum

The New York State Department of Education (www.op.nysed.gov - NYS Education Dept. Office of the Professions) requires 1,000 hours of education. Although the OSTM program meets or exceeds most state licensing board requirements, students wishing to practice in another state should contact that state's department of education.

The OSTM's diverse curriculum prepares students to take the NY State board exam and provides them with the tools and skills to begin a career as a licensed massage therapist with confidence.

The OSTM 1,000-hour program meets New York State requirements as follows:

  • Anatomy & Physiology (150 Hours)

STUDENT CLINIC

The objective of the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage is to provide training in the science of massage with the intent of graduating exceptionally trained, highly qualified massage therapists. An integral part of the students' educational experience is the Student Clinic. The Student Clinic provides the public with increased accessibility to massage services at a reduced rate, while allowing students to practice their skills in a supervised setting.

All student clinic work is supervised by a licensed massage therapist.
